I'M BACK! It's been over a month since my last outfit post, my apologies, the combination of a full time job, short winter days and bad weather doesn't give you much time to take satisfactory blog photos but with some new changes happening in 2016 I hope to resume the regularity of outfit posts once again.
The season of red lips, glitter and over accessorising is finally upon us and in full swing (I can't believe the big day is next week!). This year though, with help of Vestiaire Collective, I'm trying something different. I'm suiting up and wearing flats!
When dressing for any party it's important to feel comfortable and still feel like 'me', and what could shout comfort more, than a pair of flat shoes. Trainers, the King of comfortable flats, couldn't be anymore 'me' (It only take ones scroll through my Instagram to see I'm a sneaker addict). When thinking to myself 'how can I make a statement with trainers?', my instinct was 'go flashy' and 'create contrast'. Using Vesitiare Collective's Ready To Ship category, I found these pre owned Acne Adriana sneakers and a navy wool suit by Stella McCartney to create a subtle statement party look, topped off with delicate silver accessories to compliment the shoes. To give this outfit an extra boost, on NYE I'll add a bold red lip, something along the lines of 'Dubonnet' by Mac or Burberry's 'Oxblood'.
Buying pre-loved might not seem like the obvious choice when shopping for a party look but with their high quality control and authenticity process, you can be rest assured when shopping with Vestiaire Collective you get what you pay for, neither of the items I chose had been worn (very impressed!). VC is also a great place to find 'the ones that got away'.
3 tips for styling and surviving the party season:
1. Go Hands Free.
There's nothing more annoying, at a party, than hanging on to a clutch bag in one hand and a drink in the other all night. Ditch the clutch for a small statement cross body bag and dance the night away with no worries.
2. Choose Fancy Flats.
You know that one girl you always see at a party, in agony and walking like Bambi on ice? Well that was me last new years eve. I thought I could handle a mid height stiletto for the night, oh how wrong I was! Unless you hold a gold medal in the art of walking in heels stick to comfort this festive season.
3. Go Against the Grain.
The little black dress is a thing of the past. Juxtapose your snazzy items with a white tee, knitwear or even a pair of trainers like I have for a refreshing and contemporary take on party dressing.
