This is now the fourth appearance, on the blog, from the above COS coat and I'm pretty sure the number of appearances from my A.P.C Half Moon Bag is climbing up into the double figures. Posting a further outfit featuring these already familiar buys got me thinking, does repeating items on the blog more often than not make me a bad blogger? If not bad then, a boring blogger?
I have no fear of wearing the same pieces, or heck, the same entire outfit twice (who can even, seriously, afford not to repeat items anyway) but as of late I have absolutely felt a definite pressure as a 'style blogger' to keep the looks I am posting fresh and appealing by continuously showcasing new or previously unseen items. I am, however, always reminding myself to keep the blog 'real' by exhibiting outfits I honestly wear at the weekend.* The reasoning behind repeating items regularly on both here and Instagram is, if truth be told, I don't shop a lot or at least not as much as other bloggers might and when I do shop I gravitate towards items that will perform well in my wardrobe. Items that will interchange in my wardrobe and won't date. I don't want to have to buy an entirely new outfit for one single piece to work in my wardrobe. That being said I am by no means a 'minimal dresser' or the owner of a 'minimal wardrobe', I simply own a mass of similar styles, I know what I like and I've stuck with it e.g black coats, straight jeans, white shirts, culottes, timeless bags - you get the gist! Hence the repetition!
What do you think? Does seeing bloggers repeat items bore you?
Despite the subject of this long post, I have featured a new item - sunglasses! Sunglasses and a beanie...I know what you're thinking, but these crisp winter mornings can be surprisingly blinding! Say hello to the freshly launched Milan Smoke frames from Ace & Tate. Finding frames that suit my face shape and skin tone feels like a losing battle, black looks too harsh and coloured sunnies ain't my thang so clear acetate seems the way forward. Fingers crossed these blue skies hold out!
* I work Monday to Friday so you ain't missing out on any great outfits during the week.
