Global edtech leader Discovery Education has launched a fresh collection of digital teaching resources aimed at sparking curiosity in primary school pupils as the spring term gets underway.
The resources, now available on Discovery Education’s daily learning platform Espresso, are designed to provide teachers with engaging, ready-to-use content to enhance classroom learning. The collection spans a variety of subjects and themes, focusing on hands-on, interactive education.
Among the new offerings are 50 science lessons that explore topics such as light, the water cycle, and plant biology. The lessons are complemented by a series of practical Hands-On Activities videos, encouraging pupils to engage directly with the material.
The platform also features Calendar Picks, mini-lessons tied to significant events such as Burns Night, Lunar New Year, Holocaust Memorial Day, and National Storytelling Week. These resources are designed to help teachers weave real-world relevance into their lessons.
News Bites, a collaboration with ITN, offers weekly bulletins and specials on current issues, including the cost of living crisis and parliamentary democracy, helping pupils connect classroom learning to global events.
Additionally, new Wellbeing Resources have been introduced across all Key Stages. These include lessons on mindfulness and empathy, with Key Stage 2 pupils gaining access to a chapter from Bear Grylls’ book Mind Fuel. This addition supports Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE) teaching with practical wellbeing strategies.
For early years pupils, the Exploring My World series offers lessons and films focused on exploring technology, cultural celebrations, and global artefacts. These resources aim to help young learners build relationships, understand different cultures, and safely use technology.
Lizzy Lambley, Discovery Education’s UK Head of Production, emphasised the importance of accessible and inspiring teaching tools. She said, “Discovery Education is committed to creating powerful, primary teaching resources that bring learning to life for every pupil.
“We’re thrilled to unveil this new collection of content, which empowers teachers to spark pupil curiosity as the spring term begins.”
