Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a key player in textile production, is enhancing sustainability through artificial intelligence (AI). By implementing AI-driven defect detection, the company ensures high-quality fabric production while minimising waste. Real-time AI monitoring improves precision, optimises material use, and significantly reduces the environmental footprint of textile manufacturing.
“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”
Water Conservation Through AI-Enhanced Processes
The textile industry is one of the most water-intensive sectors, with dyeing and finishing processes contributing to nearly 20% of global industrial water pollution. By identifying defects early in production, Ekoten Tekstil’s AI system reduces the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, ultimately lowering water consumption.
As climate change intensifies and water shortages become a growing challenge, industries are prioritising conservation efforts. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that droughts affect 55 million people annually, worsening water scarcity. By improving efficiency and reducing excess water use, Ekoten Tekstil actively supports broader sustainability initiatives.
Sustainability and Workplace Inclusivity at the Forefront
Ekoten Tekstil’s sustainability efforts extend beyond environmental conservation. The company has once again received an A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, outperforming the textile industry’s global B average and the worldwide C rating. Additionally, it has maintained an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, cementing its position as a leader in sustainable supply chains.
Alongside its environmental initiatives, Ekoten Tekstil is committed to workplace inclusivity, ensuring that women play essential roles in both leadership and production. This emphasis on diversity strengthens the company’s long-term vision of integrating innovation with responsible business practices.
“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”
By continuously investing in AI-driven efficiency, sustainability, and inclusivity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping a responsible and forward-thinking future for the textile industry.
