The 136th Canton Fair has concluded a series of international promotion events aimed at strengthening Sino-foreign trade cooperation and improving the experience for global businesses. The events, held across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, were designed to prepare businesses for the upcoming trade fair, widely regarded as one of the largest and most influential in the world.
From 26 August to 12 September, promotional conferences took place across three major routes, covering Germany, Serbia, and Poland; Switzerland, Spain, and Italy; as well as New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. Each of these events attracted between 50 and 100 representatives from local business chambers, enterprises, and media outlets, all keen to learn about the latest developments at the Canton Fair.
Key topics discussed included improvements to the structure of the exhibition themes, the quality of exhibitors, and the diversity of products that will be on display at the 136th edition of the fair. Organisers also outlined strategies for enhancing the experience of participating businesses, with a focus on greater efficiency in both on-site and online services.
At the Berlin event in Germany, Zhang Sihong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Canton Fair and Deputy Director General of the China Foreign Trade Centre, spoke about the ambition to build a year-round Canton Fair. He said, “We aim to create a trade event that not only leads the market but is also available to businesses throughout the year.”
Meanwhile, in Rome, Su Bin, also a Deputy Secretary-General of the Canton Fair, emphasised the potential for increased economic cooperation between China and Italy, urging Italian businesses to seize the opportunities presented by the fair. In Melbourne, Ma Fengmin, Finance Director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, invited Australian companies to take part in the fair and showcase their latest products on a global platform.
The promotional events were not just focused on presentations, but also included partnership agreements and market research activities. In Frankfurt, the organisers held discussions with the local Chamber of Commerce, which led to a partnership agreement with the German-Asian Business Circle. In Milan, a similar agreement was signed with the Italy-China Chamber of Commerce, with the event also featuring market research activities aimed at enhancing trade relationships.
In Melbourne, the Canton Fair team conducted research at the Melbourne Convention Centre and the major building material chain, National Tiles. These activities concluded with the signing of a “Trade Bridge” cooperation agreement with the Australian payment solutions provider, Airwallex.
The Canton Fair, which takes place in Guangzhou, is renowned for its vast array of products, ranging from electronics and machinery to textiles and consumer goods. The upcoming 136th edition will feature further improvements in its online platform, aiming to attract high-quality buyers from around the world while expanding its global market reach.
As global economic integration continues, the Canton Fair is positioning itself as a vital bridge between Chinese manufacturers and international markets. By continuously optimising its services and strengthening partnerships, the Canton Fair remains an essential event for businesses looking to expand their global trade presence.
The Canton Fair organisers have pledged to continue fostering international cooperation and enhancing the event’s role in global trade. For more information about Canton Fair, please kindly visit https://www.cantonfair.org.cn/en-US
