VitrA Tiles has officially launched its Aksaray solar power plant, marking another significant achievement in its sustainability strategy.
As an integral part of the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles continues its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and increasing reliance on clean energy. The Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the commissioning of the 3.5 MW rooftop solar plant in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this facility will ensure that over half of the electricity used in Türkiye operations this year will come from renewable sources.
Accelerating the Transition to Renewable Energy
The new solar plant is expected to produce enough power to sustain approximately 19,700 households per year. It is equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, and will lead to a carbon emission reduction of 37,190 tonnes annually.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu spoke about the company’s ambitious sustainability goals, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
Work on the Aksaray SPP began in April 2024, with electricity production commencing in February 2025 following the installation of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This project not only advances VitrA Tiles’ sustainability objectives but also contributes to innovation within the industry.
